Jason Irby is an Arkansas native, innovator, humanitarian, and author of Love Within Life, Inspire the Intuitive Woman, My Arkansas, My Home, and So, You Want to Stop Violence?, the first publications in a series of books featuring poems and short stories.
Jason earned a Bachelor's degree in Radio, Television and Film and a Master of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). Jason partners with his collegiate alma mater by providing the annual Jason Irby Award to graduate students.
Jason is a community investor, and he founded and established the Arkansas State Flag Wabbaseka Veterans Memorial in his hometown of Wabbaseka, Arkansas, honoring Arkansas State Flag designer Willie K. Hocker , the Arkansas Flag Centennial, and the Navy vessel USS Arkansas. He is also the founder and creator of the Arkansas Heritage Celebration of Black History Month by honoring Arkansans through the Legend Among Us Recognition for over a decade.
In 2023, Jason established the Corvettes and Veterans Salute and Ceremony as an annual celebration in honor and acknowledgement of veterans, veterans service, War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas as a living memorial, and showcasing the American Corvette car known for centuries as a small swift military vessel. Other military assets, such as, the jeep, motorcycle, drone, horse, and K-9 are presented annually. Proceeds from the event go towards the American Legion "Be The One" organization and War Memorial Stadium and Park.
Jason has presented at many literary events including the Arkansas History Commission’s Black History Seminar and the Arkansas Library Paraprofessionals Conference. Jason has also been featured in several publications including SEAlife Magazine, the UALR Forum, and University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) News. He was recognized as a featured author by the Tea and Poetry Book Club for his actions to prevent domestic violence. Jason’s blog was the number 1 WordPress Blog for Stop the Violence for several weeks. He was also showcased at the National Black Book Festival. Television Media appearances include ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX affiliates. Radio media interviews include Cumulus Media, Signal Media, EBA Group and PBS affiliates.

Jason is also a community leader, holding positions, such as, the Chairman and Founder of the Jason Irby Innovation Foundation, President of the Arkansas Trail of Tears Association, Co-Chair of the UPS Health and Wellness Committee, Past President of the Arkansas Corvette Association, and the Board of Representatives of the National Trail of Tears Association. Jason is the Chairman of the Arkansas Flag Wabbaseka Veterans Memorial, and a committee member of the Little Rock 300, USS Little Rock LCS-9 Committee, and the North Little Rock Green Committee.
In 2015, Jason was nationally recognized for his humanitarian efforts by receiving the Civic Recognition Award.
Jason has participated in numerous events, such as, the Black Men’s Solution Summit sponsored by Wal-Mart and he has sponsored and presented a Women’s History Month event at the Arkansas Children’s Library. Jason has also appeared in commercials for the Little Rock Zoo and city attractions. He also participated in “The First Boys of Spring”, the 1912 era baseball documentary film produced by Emmy Award winning producer Larry Foley. Jason was featured in This Ole House and Make 48.
Jason has owned J-Starr Productions since the mid-1980s, which provides audio and visual media productions. The NPF/NPS Grant project "Drops That Filled the River, Blood Sweet and the Trail of Tears" is based on Jason’s poem, Drops that Filled the River. Blood Sweet and a Trail of Tears.
Jason has received numerous local and national awards and recognitions for his humanitarian and civic efforts, such as, the UPS Safety Council Recognition, the Civic Recognition Award, the Arkansas Secretary of State Citation, Arkansas Senate Citation, Kappa Tau Alpha, Arkansas Flag Wabbaseka Pioneer Award, Arkansas Acres for Wildlife, UPS Circle of Honor, Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission Recognition, Honored by the Robert “Say” McIntosh Foundation, Youth Department Sponsor of the Year by Mercy Church, the Corvettes and Veterans Top Gun Award, and many others.
Jason is an avid charitable contributor and volunteer. He is a prominent advocate of reaching our youth by partnering with community leaders in promoting Awareness, Wellness, and Choices - Hope, Help, and Healing and by challenging the sports entertainment industry in its promotion of violence driven by the inappropriate language in hip-hop.
Jason is a passionate fourth-generation farmer, highlighting his familial contributions to the Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie and agricultural Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)converting environmentally sensitive acreage of native grasses, shallow water, hardwoods, and agritourism.
Jason’s love for literature, supporting communities, and building community relationships drives his humanitarian efforts.
